A Partial Apology to Skylanders

Ok so not that long ago I had a real bitch fit at Skylanders after playing it for about two hours. Well I have to take some of my bitching back. I was crabby because in multiplayer when the second player gets near a chest or a hat box or anything really the button to do something only pops up on the side of player one so it made sense at the time that player one had to get it. Well I swear I tried it and it didn't work but last night during chapter 15 (after an update if anyone has bothered keeping track of whatever those do) I tried it because I could and it worked. So either I am insane or maybe there is some differences? The game does seem to show some initial inconsistencies with the way things work but I'll let you know after I start my second play through tomorrow. Same thing with the hats. The first few levels I played through I'd find all areas and get everything except owning all hats from that area despite only hats remaining needing to be bought.Well that also seemed to change in the later levels so for the first half the game it says I am missing hats from levels. The second half I'm all set. It's a bit odd really. Maybe I just had some hard core bias going against the game to begin with. Next time I'll try to be a little more objective and careful before I shoot my mouth off.

You can stop laughing now. ;)

Skylanders Giants

HI! Oh don't look surprised. It's a game of course I made plans to play it. Anywho. Skylanders Giants came out the other day and I must say I am severely disappointed in the upgrades they made. The original skylanders was a short game to begin with and Giants only has about 16 chapters so at a half hour each taking our time you are looking at eight hours of game play. I don't know about you but $60 game. 8 hours of game play. Not a happy camper.

Also the main reason I play this game is to play with my man however they have really added insult to injury with the multiplayer mode this time. In the original game the second player was at least allowed to open boxes but not anymore! If a second player gets near a box the primary player has to open it and it has been doing this at random for other challenges such as the feats of strength. It's less like having two players and more like having a side kick.

Next on the bitch list is the difficulty settings. I was excited because I just breezed through the first game murdering everything in my path so when I heard the second had a hard and even nightmare mode I was excited. And then it failed me. Hard didn't make the enemies harder to kill. It didn't even seem to make more of them when we were playing with the different levels. All Hard seems to do is increase the damage of the enemies effectively turning all your own pieces, giants included, into glass cannons.

Then they added potty humour. I don't know about you but I don't like potty humour. It gets old quickly and I know the game is aimed at kids but I wouldn't want my child laughing at these jokes either. I'd want them to have a little more taste so when I see they have a figure coming out called Hot Dog (awww its a puppy) and one of its attacks is a flaming bag of poo I just have to sigh. Or one of our giants has an attack called "B is for butt stinger" I can just imagine a bunch of 6 year olds running around saying that or teaching it to little siblings. I found it to be unnecessary and in poor taste.

Speaking of the giant aspect of the game I was really under impressed. They seem to just be larger, which gets in the way of each other more than anything, with more HP. They don't seem to actually be any stronger. Level 4 Tree Rex currently goes 8 damage with his upgraded blaster power. Not impressed. The enemies I'm fighting do like 80.

Oh and one last point that irked me wrong. The hats. There are TONS more of them. Yea! That's great except you don't find all of them anymore. You find some and others you have to buy in specific levels. Also if you don't buy them in that level you don't get credit for having found them all. So it can easily turn your three star or even two star level back down to a one star because your staring at these hats debating between a star and your next upgrade. I think they were trying to create greater replay value maybe? All it did was bug me. I'd spend five minutes comparing hats then get to the end and be told I didn't find them. BS! I found them! I CHOSE not to buy them.

Corset not really sticking to the new schedule.

Kitchen Aid+ Cranberry Bread

Hello world. Am I the only one who would squee with joy at the idea of owning a kitchen aid? For the entirety of my childhood one of my favorite things in the house was my moms white kitchen aid classic. I knew that if the kitchen aid was on we were only an hour or so from something delicious coming out of the oven. So when I moved out on my own (and my mom stopped me from sneaking the kitchen aid out) I decided I wanted one of my own. Then reality kicked in and if I wanted a classic white kitchen aid like the one I used as a girl they would cost me about $199. To me this is money well spent. My mothers has had hers for twenty years and counting and the thing still works perfectly. The only thing we had to replace was the whisk attachment after it finally gave way to a bread recipe that I thought made a batter not a dough.

Well about two weeks ago the best thing happened. I got a Red KitchenAid artisan that was absolutely wonderful. An absolutely amazing gift and I love it. I started it off with a simple cranberry bread recipe that I've always loved. I don't remember who gave me this recipe but it's always been lovely. Just combine and cook at 350 F for 45-55 minutes. Just keep an eye on it. When a toothpick comes out clean it's done.
(for record the cook time is for 9x5 loaf pans)

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar+ 2tbsp
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
2 tablespoons shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 1/2 cups Fresh Cranberries, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup chopped nuts

I personally do it muffin style so I don't have to wait for it to cool. Straight from the oven for a great snack. When it's in muffin form though it does take a lot less time to cook. Like 25min give or take a bit. I'd bake for 20min then look in on it and do the toothpick test. If I remember to time it next time I'll come back and edit this or if someone else wants to time it for me...   ;)

Well Then.

So apparently the blogger hates me today and I've lost everything I've typed here TWICE. The saves aren't sticking at the publisher isn't publishing. So I'm going to copy paste this sentence till something sticks and go from there.
